ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The UTPB Falcons dropped their first game of the season to Texas Southern 26-16. Saturday's game was delayed two and a half hours due to severe weather in Houston.
The Falcons outscored the Tigers 14-10 in the second half, but the comeback ran out of time. Despite the loss, head coach Justin Carrigan believes his guys played well, but the main area of improvement is not finishing in the red zone.
"Beyond frustrating. It's frustrating not to get touchdowns I don't want to settle with field goals. That's on us as coaches and evaluating the film and some of the missed assignments in there we should've walked in for some touchdowns, but that's on us. As offensive coordinator 100% of that blame goes on me and not being able to execute flawlessly down in the red zone," said Carrigan.
The Falcons will look to get their first win of the season this Saturday as they head to Northern Michigan which is their longest road trip the program has had.
