ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The Permian Panthers are getting ready for week one with interim head coach Jeff Ellison. The Panthers open the season against the 2016 6A Division 2 State Champs Desoto. Coach Ellison told us they're preparing as they normally would.
"I'm looking at it as far as we are week one. Again, they're very talented and they're a top ranked team in the state of Texas so it's going to give us an idea of where we're at but my main focus is where we're starting at and where we'll go from there. I feel great. I'm excited. It's football in West Texas it ain't getting better than this," said Ellison.
The Panthers play Friday against Desoto at Ratliff Stadium.
