REEVES COUNTY, TX (KWES) - TxDOT will begin a project in late August that will improve eight and a half miles of FM 1450 in Reeves County.

This project will start on the west end of U.S. Highway 285 and focus on a stretch of FM 1450 going east.

Included in this work will be the left turn lane at one point as well as certain key acceleration and deceleration lanes. The shoulders of the road through the work will also be widened.

Throughout most of the project two lanes will remain open. Short-term closures will occasionally occur, including a significant closure at U.S. Highway 285.

If only one lane is open at any point during the project a pilot car will be used.

The speed limit in the area during the project will be reduced to 65 miles per hour. Additional law enforcement could potential patrol the work zone and drivers are asked to obey any flaggers or warning signs in the area.

The project, which is primarily for the rehabilitation of the road, should take 11 months and is expected to be completed in summer of 2019.
