Frequent flyers navigate through delays at Midland International Air & Spaceport

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - Airport travel can be stressful, you have to make sure all your stuff is in order along with getting there on time.

Thursday morning travelers were thrown for a loop through no fault of their own when a sprinkler leak at the Midland International Air & Spaceport caused some delays. Those looking to fly out had to come two hours early.

"I want to make sure I get home on time to my family," said Brandon Ivory, traveler.

Ivory was looking to get back to Kansas City. He visits the Tall City a handful of times a month for work.

"You have the Dallas or the Houston flights, it can get kind of congested with TSA so I definitely wanted to get here on time," said Ivory.

He got to make his flight at noon with the help of warnings he got from the minute he woke up.

"Homewood Suites in Odessa announced a water main has been popped and you may need to accommodate two hours to get to the airport because its pretty backed up. Even at my place of business, they were announcing if anyone needs to travel today I would suggest you get there pretty quickly," said Ivory.

City officials say the leak was an accident and cleaned up within a few hours.

Who knows, maybe getting to the airport two hours early isn't such a bad thing.

"I'm cutting it kind of close, yeah," said Ivory.
