ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The middle of June proved to be very slow for health inspectors in the Permian Basin. Odessa saw only two top performers and one low performer for the week of June 18 through June 22. Meanwhile, Midland had no top performers or low performers for that week.
Buffet King at 4101 E. 42nd St. in Odessa was cited for the following:
- Items placed on top of food in freezer - Meats/chicken overfilled in cold holds - Eggs stacked at room temperature, need to be in cold hold - Scoops didn't have handles - Some items not date marked in walk-in cooler - Not thawing food correctly - Hand wash sink being used for other purposes - Some containers not labeled - Metal pans placed on top of raw meats - Metal pans not covered - Tote of crab/box of great beans found on floor - Floor of cooler needed cleaning - Employee drinks didn't have lids or straws
This resulted in the health inspector deducting 19 points from Buffet King.
As we mentioned, there were a couple of restaurants with perfect scores for the week. Here's a look at Odessa's top performers:
- Starbucks (500 W. 4th St.) - McDonald's (1800 E. 8th St.)
Again, Midland did not have any top or low performers for the week.
