Odessa Arts receives $15,000 grant from NEA

The NEA Big Read involves the hosting of a community reading program which will each showcase a contemporary title in order to inspire conversation within the community.

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Odessa Arts has become a recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts Grant totaling $15,000.

This grant was given to allow Odessa Arts to host the NEA Big Read in Odessa.

The NEA Big Read involves the hosting of a community reading program which will each showcase a contemporary title in order to inspire conversation.

This year 79 nonprofit organizations have been given a grant to host these programs from September 2018 to June 2019.

Odessa's Big Read will take place from September 11 to November 25 and will focus on the book "Station 11" by Emily St. John Mandel.

Participants of the Big Read will be able to participate in community book clubs but will also have the chance to experience performances, exhibits and more thanks to community partners like the Ellen Noel Art Museum and Odessa College.
