CRANE, TX (KWES) -

U.S. Silica has donated $8,000 to the Crane Fire Department for the purchase of new and upgraded fire protective clothing for the department. The donation was presented during the Fourth of July Celebration softball game between the Crane Fire Department and the Crane Police Department.

“Ensuring our first responders have the necessary equipment to do their job reflects U.S. Silica’s ongoing commitment to Crane County and our appreciation to the firefighters who keep us all safe,” said U.S. Silica Crane County Plant Manager Mike Manke.

The new equipment purchased with the donation will meet current standards set by the National Fire Protection Association, which must meet these current standards before firefighters can attend mandatory training, and this donation makes that possible.

“The Crane Fire Department is very grateful for this donation from U.S. Silica and their commitment to our first responders and our community,” said Crane Fire Chief Berry Ingram. “Having the right gear is absolutely critical to protect our firefighters and ensure they can do their job safely.”
