Midland voters to decide on Republican candidate for county judge

MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - Midland County voters will decide on a Republican candidate ahead of the November election for Midland County Judge.

The choice is between Terry Johnson, president and founder of the nonprofit Show of Support, or James Beauchamp, president of the Midland-Odessa Transportation Alliance.

Local scientist Steven Schafersman ran unopposed for the Democratic seat.

Until November, it's a question of who will take the Republican ticket.

Terry Johnson and James Beauchamp gave insight on what they each bring to the table.

"We have got a number of economic challenges on the horizon, we either take advantage of those economic opportunities or there will be big problems. I personally see them as a way to grow our tax break and if we make good decisions and prioritize well. We will end up growing our tax base and things we need to do," said James Beauchamp, Republican, Midland County Judge candidate.

"We are in the construction business a lot of what the county does is construction whether it be on the roads or some building for what facility need and stuff. I am well-aware on how on this stuff works. I am well aware of how the process works. I know what's fair and what's not fair. I would just like the opportunity to bring my 42 plus years and offer that to the citizens of Midland County,” said Terry Johnson, Republican, Midland County Judge candidate.
