PECOS, TX (KWES) - A bronze statue was unveiled at the Pecos Police Department Thursday to honor those who serve our community, and those who have died doing so.
"Its a solemn place to come and to honor these people, and I think it'll serve the community in a way where we show our respect from now on." said Clay McKinney, chief of police.
He encouraged everyone to pray for the officers that are still out serving and protecting our communities.
The project was established through contributions and partnerships which raised nearly $45,000 to make this memorial happen.
According to McKinney, there is no greater call in life than when a man or woman, lays down his or her life in the service of others.
