Head Coach Barry Russell retires from MHS after 22 seasons, former players react

He took over Bulldog baseball in 1996. Twenty-two years later and he's retiring from his head coaching position at Midland High. Barry Russell has built Midland High baseball and is leaving a legacy in the Tall City.

The accomplishments under Barry Russell's reign seem endless with eleven district titles, nine regional quarterfinal appearances, and a state championship.

His team made the playoffs for twenty straight seasons, in his twenty-two at Midland High.

These milestones, are filled with moments that Russell says will stay with him for quite awhile.

During Russell's time at MHS 80 of his players have gone on to play at the next level, either collegiate or professional. And to Russell, the guys who have made those moments happen will always be important, and Coach Russell will always be important to those players.
