ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) - The Ector County Independent School District is spending the week honoring teachers and students.
ECISD held the 31st Annual Awards for Excellence banquet on Monday, May 7. The banquet was hosted at the MCM Elegante and honored a total of 45 students throughout 11 different academic areas.
Wednesday was National School Nurse Day, and ECISD Nursing Services celebrated with a reception at Milam Elementary School. The reception was in honor of Amanda Castellanos who was named School Nurse of the Year and Janie Zuniga who was selected as School Health Aide of the Year.
Ector Middle School 8th grade students get to switch up their schedules on Wednesday and Thursday. Dozens of teachers are donating free time to provide engaging lessons to help the students better prepare for the Social Studies and Science STAAR tests next week.
The final event of this week will be the annual Awards Ceremony and Dance for the Self-contained Intellectually Disabled which will take place on Friday, May 11 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Special education students from New Tech Odessa High School, Permian High School, and Odessa High School will gather at George H. W. Bush New Tech Odessa High School to be honored.
