MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Midland City Council is looking to make changes to their termination policy.
Officials say if someone is hired as a director of a city operation and then violate certain terms of the city's personnel handbook within 12 months, they will not be compensated.
"Break the law in any form or fashion whether it be sexual activity or stealing, if you break the law and it doesn't fall in compliance of the handbook, then you will not be compensated," Mayor Jerry Morales said.
The proposed policy follows the city's requirement to pay six months' salary to former Police Chief Steve Henry after he was fired.
The payment was a little more than $70,000.
