Shelters available for fire evacuees in Jeff Davis Co.

FORT DAVIS, TX (KWES) - Shelters have been set up for people and pets who don't want to return home yet because of the wildfire in Jeff Davis County.

The First Baptist Church in Fort Davis has opened their fellowship hall with kitchen, showers, and restrooms.

Dirks-Anderson Elementary gym in Fort Davis is also taking in evacuees, but they will not accept pets.

The Van Horn Community Christian as free food, clothing, and shelter, they prefer you don't bring pets.

Some individuals are also offering up the homes, you can contact Marfa Public Radio for information if you need a place to house animals or pets.

Fort Davis Justice of the Peace Mary Ann Luedecke has offered a trailer to move any horses you have, they will be taken to the Marfa Arena. Owners are asked to take a lead rope and a halter. You can contact her at (432) 249-0748.
