MISD grandmother pushing for bus stop changes due to unsafe motorist on the road

MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - Sheri Vallejo the grandmother of a Midland ISD student who says that she is frustrated with people driving on 1788 and not stopping when children are boarding and getting off the school bus.

Every morning and afternoon cars, trucks and semis don't stop for her granddaughter's school bus and she has been fighting for a change since October.

But no matter what she's done, every day it's the same story.

"Multiple people passing the bus while the bus is stopped, the stop sign is out his lights are on he has worn out two horns since October," said Vallejo.

Vallejo said that she called local law enforcement, but they have done little to nothing.

"Highway department to come out. They were out here one day, ticketed two different people and that has been since October," said Vallejo.

She said she can think of one other suggestion; to change the location of the bus stop.

Here is a photo of her neighborhood, where she says that the bus stop should be changed.

She brought up the idea to Bus barn, but she was turned down.

"I am super frustrated because they denied us the ability to change the bus stop down by our house where there is cul de sac. The safety of the children is most important," said Vallejo.

Her next step will be taking the issue to MISD administration.
