MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - The University of Texas of the Permian Basin announced a new community partnership on May 2.
Midland native and owner of West Texas Gas J. L. Davis donated $500,000 for the chemical engineering program that UTPB is currently developing.
Davis says that his company has hired numerous engineering graduates from UTPB and he is excited about the chemical engineering program.
President Sandra Woodley expressed her gratitude to Davis for the donation.
"The University owes a heartfelt debt of gratitude to Mr. Davis for his tremendous generosity and visionary thinking," Woodley said. "This donation will help strengthen our faculty and shape the lives of our students for generations to come."
Classes for the College of Engineering are scheduled to begin in fall 2019.
