ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A former Ector County jailer has been sentenced to two years in prison after being accused of sexually assaulting persons in custody.
Alfred Herrera plead guilty to two charges of improper sexual activity with persons in jail.
In 2016, a woman said Herrera and another deputy took her and a male inmate to a mental health facility. She was then left alone with Herrera after the second deputy took the male inmate to a funeral. She said that's when Herrera sexually assaulted her.
This investigation caused another inmate to come forward and claim that a similar situation happened to her in 2015.
The district attorney's office said the victims supported the plea deal.
