Marathon woman charged with murder following hit-and-run crash

ALPINE, TX (KWES) -

An Alpine man is dead after being hit by a vehicle early April 29.

Alpine Police responded to this incident at around 1 a.m. and found Aquiles Armendariz Gonzales, 37, with “severe trauma.” Gonzales was transported to Big Bend Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation revealed that a SUV driven by Lisette McGuire, 31, struck Gonzales and then left the scene.

McGuire was located in Marathon by Brewster County Sheriff’s Deputies and was taken into custody. She was charged with murder.

McGuire’s passenger, Jon Jay Whitley, was charged with failure to report a felony.

This case in pending further investigation.
