MISD now accepting 6th grade applications for San Jacinto

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

Following the transformative redesign of Sam Houston College Preparatory Elementary, Midland Independent School District announced that San Jacinto Junior High will have an inaugural class of sixth graders for the 2018-19 school year.

Approximately 120 sixth grade students will have the opportunity to integrate into a secondary setting and middle school environment.

“We have listened to the needs of our parents, students, and staff and are excited to introduce a middle school concept to our community,” said Jeff Horner, executive director of secondary education for Midland ISD.

The campus’ college preparatory model will prepare students for programs at Midland High School, Lee High School, and Early College High School at Midland College.

Midland ISD is currently accepting applications for 60 remaining seats at San Jacinto, the deadline to apply is May 4th.

    Last week was an emotional one for Midland Lee High School.  A girls basketball player, Essence Glover, died after fainting at practice on Wednesday.  On Friday night, the Lee football team played in honor of Essence.
