PERMIAN BASIN, TX (KWES) - The Texas House of Transportation and Energy is looking for a solution to bad roads in the Permian Basin.
Drilling locations across the Basin have not only increased oil work but also the number of 18-wheelers on the roads.
Now they're looking at a legislation, that if passed, it could send some money back to fixing roads and highways.
"The portion that goes into the general revenue, and instead take that 2 percent take that 2 percent back and give it to those counties road and highway improvements rehab cost dealing with the energy sector," President of MOTRAN, James Beauchamp said.
While the bill did not pass this year, they are looking to reintroduce it next year.
