MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - The Northeast Volunteer Fire Department in Midland County is at risk of losing its county funding.

The department was invited to this morning's Commissioner Court meeting to explain why they haven't filed county-involved financial records. A violation official said this could result in financial consequences.

"I don't think the department would be dissolved, but certainly the county giving them money would be on hold," said Midland County Judge Michael Bradford.

The department's chief responded to the Commissioners Court, stating that they've recently parted with their treasurer and have no problem producing the records.

Commissioners have arranged an auditor to meet with the department.
