ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

"Love in action," that is how some volunteers described the annual Butterfly Release and Family Celebration, a program that lets students take care of caterpillars as they turn into beautiful butterflies.

The celebration was created by the Home Hospice, who believe the kids can learn that every person should be remembered for how they have graced their histories, and continued lives.

"We never stop to look and see the process of something, and it's such a direct symbol of our lives from being an egg and growing into the caterpillar and being vulnerable and being something beautiful and then ascending. It's a perfect hospice symbol and it's a learning lesson for them to enjoy, said Volunteer Karen Carter.

This year the Odessa Butterfly Release and Family Celebration will take place April 28, 2018, 2 - 4 p.m. at the globe theater. It is free to attend and you might even have the chance to release a butterfly.
