Complaints, long lines and long faces. That's what you'll see at the tax office in Odessa.

Pam Blount said she been waiting in line for hours, got desperate and that’s when she decided to call us.

She started at 10:00 a.m. and the office wasn't even open. It was wrapped all the way around with people standing outside.

This is not the first time that Pam has visited the office to find herself waiting in line for hours.

She has been trying to get an antique license plate for over a month and every time she pays them a visit, the line is extremely long.

The tax office is scheduled to open at 8:00 a.m., but because at least five employees called in sick, it did not open until 11:00 a.m.

They were very short on staff and the workload in the morning that doesn't allow a couple of the workers to be up on the line working.

There are only 15 employees who work in this office, which makes it hard to keep up with the work, especially when a staff member calls in sick. As some employees said, it is what it is, the budget is out of their hands.

The budget is controlled by the commissioners and a judge.

The tax office also says that the normal wait time to register a car is 45 minutes to an hour. But when their employees call in sick, there is nothing they can do about the workload, so the waiting time will go up...
