MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

Midland's Fire Department is on a mission to raise money to help people suffering from muscular dystrophy.

To raise this money, Midland firefighters will be at stoplights throughout the city asking for donations. The firemen are holding up boots and asking for some change as part of their Fill the Boot campaign.

The money will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, who they've partnered with for more than  60 years. The department says it's something they love to do.

"It's important for us to help Midland Dystrophy Association. It's been an ongoing tradition for over 60 years. This is the 64th year that fire service and locals across the nation have been assisting with muscular dystrophy just trying to get these kids back on their feet give them a more suitable life. They’re fighting diseases that are hard to find cures for," said Greg Wells, Midland Fire Department member.

They will be at various intersections all day Wednesday and Friday.
