ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

Odessa police have one man behind bars in connection to a shooting last week.

Arturo Villa, 30, is charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon, false identification and leaving the scene of an accident.

On Friday, Odessa police responded to a call with a complainant who said a driver of a red Kia Optima was driving around and shooting a gun in the air. Officers found a shell casing on the 400 block of Ellis. Officers found the vehicle driving south in the 300 block of Lotteman Drive before turning right on Ellis.

It later turned onto Ranchland and then the 3000 block of Ranchland Avenue. The driver hit a gas meter and guardrail located behind the 500 block of West University. The driver left the vehicle and started running down an alley.

Witnesses identified the driver and officers located the suspect at the courtyard of the College Terrace Apartments. The suspect gave officers a fake name but was later identified as Villa.

An investigation showed Villa had two outstanding warrants.

Officers found a loaded black pistol inside the red Kia Optima. Villa was charged and taken to jail. There are no reports of any injuries.
