MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - Strawberries in Midland? Who would've thought?
Thanks to Plants and Produce in Greenwood, every year you can hand pick fresh strawberries for just three dollars a pound.
"We started last year and it went really well. A lot of people really love it. We tried planting strawberries outside like 3 years ago, it didn't went well. So last year we tried to plant them inside the green house with heaters and fans so they are doing good," said Jaime Morgan, partner of Plants and Produce.
Jamie and her husband moved to West Texas 12 years ago because of the oil industry, but their passion for gardening motivated them to open their store where you can find a little bit of everything for your patio.
Not only can you come here to pick fresh strawberries, but you can also have fresh vegetables like broccoli. The best thing about their fruits and veggies is that they are pesticide free.
"The cabbage is getting ready and we have onions, potatoes. We will plant some corn, we have some green beans already, we have some purple cabbage, green cabbage, carrots and beets," said Morgan.
The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM till 5 PM but if you want to hand pick your strawberries, you need to make a reservation by calling them at 432 559 5978.
