Lee girls golf gets ready for regional tournament

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Lee girls golf team qualified for the Region I-6A Tournament. The Lady Rebels consist of five juniors with some veterans and a couple new golfers. Heading into the district tournament they were a little nervous, but once Lee settled on the course they got their rhythm going and were out to prove any doubters wrong.

"Front nine was a little rough for all of us," said Rebecca Reed.

"The nerves were definitely still in play at that point. Then we were all able to really grind it out on the back nine and play well," said Laura Werner.

"I was super nervous. I mean I've played that course a ton of times but it's still a hard course," said Rachel Hulder.

"It was only my second time playing it so i was really nervous and it's only my first year playing," said Victoria Lins.

"At the beginning of the year we lost one of our players and we were all worried about coming back but we just bonded as a team," said Laura Werner.

"A lot of people kind of doubted us. Doubted us last year especially losing one of our players this year, but we ended up pulling out," said Kristyn Anderson.

"It was definitely like a motivator and it made it a lot easier to go out and play well because no one expects you to play well so then the expectations not there and the pressures not there as much," said Reed.

"It's just fun to prove people wrong," said Werner.

The regional tournament is April 25th-26th in Arlington.
