MIDLAND-ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

The West Texas Food Bank introduced a new way to help those in need of food with dip jars.

The new method was used during Jersey Mike's Day of Giving Wednesday, March 29, 2018.

To donate, simply dip your credit or debit card into the card reader and a donation goes directly to the food bank..

According to the West Texas Food Bank, they raised enough money to feed 180 people.

"We're just trying to keep up with the times. I know that most everybody's money is plastic. It helps to make it convenient. If you can make it convenient for the donors then they'll be more likely to give," said Craig Stoker with the West Texas Food Bank.

The food bank plans to place these new jars at select businesses in the Permian Basin.
