ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The Odessa College dance team competed in the American Dance and Drill National Championships over the weekend and won a national title for their hip-hop routine for the third year in a row, and it turns out that first place title tastes just as sweet as it did three years ago.
"Hearing the crowd like cheer and scream and stand it's like a big relief to know that all that we've worked for has like finally paid off," said Ashley Torres.
In addition to that winning hip-hop routine, this the team also competed in the pom category for the first time in school history. They placed third, which leaves a goal for next season.
"Having somebody above us is going to definitely push us to get that first place or get that second place, to be better in that genre and field of dance as well," said Belle Gutierrez.
The OC Blues competition season may be behind them, but they aren't quite done dancing this school year. They have a showcase on Friday where they will be performing their award-winning routines.
