Midland High Student arrested after verbal threat, carrying gun on campus

During the lunch period today a few students at Midland High School had a verbal altercation that led to a verbal threat.

MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A Midland High Student Bryce Alexander Sanchez, 17, was arrested after taking a gun to school and making a threat on Tuesday.

We're told, during the lunch, students had a verbal fight that led to a verbal threat. Sanchez left campus to get a gun was arrested as he returned.

MISD Police searched the student and his belongings when they found the loaded gun in his backpack. The gun, a black Sig Sauer P220, had a magazine loaded with six rounds in the magwell.

According to MHS Principal Dr. Leslie Sparacello, the campus was not placed on lockdown due to the timeliness of securing the student.

"We are grateful for the quick actions of MHS administration and MISD PD," said Sparacello.

No other students involved were affected.

Sanchez is being charged with places where firearms prohibited and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
