MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - The City of Midland passed a stormwater drainage fee Tuesday.
The Midland City Council held a public hearing on ordinances that would declare the drainage of Midland as a public utility. This would also implement a fee schedule for the new utility.
Both ordinances passed unanimously, though the city council members and mayor did express concerns about the commercial fee schedule.
"I'm not real comfortable on the fee yet," Mayor Morales said. "I wanna sit down with staff a little more to further understand some of the questions that were addressed today about parking lots and more square footage on the commercial end."
Fees will begin after October 1.
