Changes released in new Midland ISD school calendar

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Midland ISD School Board has approved the district calendar for the 2018-19 school year.

A few key items and changes to next year's school calendar are:

  • The first day of school for teachers is August 6th.
  • The inaugural Academic Summit and Convocation for district staff is August 8th-10th.
  • The first day of school for students is August 15th.
  • Campuses are closed on September 3rd in observance of Labor Day and on January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
  • There is no school on September 10th, October 22nd, January 7th, February 4th or April 1st for students. (Teacher Planning Days)
  • Student Early Release Days are September 21st, November 2nd, December 21st, February 15th, April 12th and May 24th.
  • Parent Conference Day is October 3rd. (Student holiday)
  • Thanksgiving Day holiday break is November 19th-23rd.
  • Winter Break is December 24th-January 4th.
  • Spring Break is March 11th-15th.
  • The last day of school is May 24th.
  • Graduation Day is May 25th.

For the 2018-19 School Year, the Elementary School Day is from 7:45 a.m. – 3:20 p.m. and the Elementary Early Release School Day is from 7:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The Secondary School Day is from 8:40 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. and the Secondary Early Release School Day is from 8:40 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
