MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

Ohana Poke opened its doors in Midland on Tuesday.

The Hawaiian BBQ themed brings a unique flavor to the Permian Basin that has already become popular on the east and west coasts.

The restaurant's menu consists of a variety of sushi themed on the go items, such as Poke bowls, sushi burritos and sushi donuts.

Customers inside the restaurant like Bret Dixon today gave us their first impressions of the restaurants food.

"Food is awesome, very fresh, and tasty, good fish and good vegetables," said Dixon

The restaurant's owner, Shen Gao, says what makes this type of food standout from regular sushi is that it is fully customizable.

"You choose what you want its almost like a subway but with an Asian twist to it," said Gao.

He also says the fish is always prepared fresh daily, and  that the average customer can be in and out of the restaurant with their food in about 5 minutes.

Ohana Poke is located at 3303 N. Midkiff road.
