MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Midland High boys' soccer team came out with a big district win Saturday and that win clinched a playoff spot for the bulldogs. As the regular season ends, the Midland High senior captains know the potential this team has in post season play.
"I think the goal as the team is to make it pretty far in the playoffs and just keep improving on simple things. I think we just need to continue working hard and there's a lot we could improve on, but I think we just need to work hard to go all the way," said Roman Ramirez.
While the Bulldogs have now clinched a playoff berth, the season was filled with some tough matches that challenged MHS to play a little harder.
"It's been a really tough season. Some hard-fought battles and just really had to play the game strategically. Teams are good, and we just have to be better. Our previous games we weren't so good at attacking and being creative so if we take off the film and look at ourselves and have everybody push up we would have more opportunity to score and better at winning the games," said Donte Ferguson.
With 11 seniors on the roster, there is a strong sense of leadership that has helped form a special bond on this Bulldogs team.
"We're way closer to each other than we were in past years because all the other years we were the young ones and now that we're older we all get along together," said Julian Montez.
"This team I think is special because just the people in it. You'll never find people like this anywhere else. The talent, the hard work that we put in every single day, I feel like it's something you can't find anywhere else," said Ramirez.
District play came to an end tonight and the Bulldogs hope to make it far in the playoffs.
