ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Bowlers from all over the Lone Star State made their way to West Texas Friday afternoon for the PBA Odessa Southwest Open.
Competitors include Robert Lawrence the 1992 US Open champion, who currently resides in Austin.
"It doesn't pay my bills like it used to so it doesn't bother me as much when I'm not doing well, but I'm competitive still," said Robert Lawrence.
To Odessa's own Jason Tidwell, who knows what sort of talent he is up against.
"This is the best of the best of this region," said Tidwell.
Participants also include a couple of twins from Dallas, who were actually able to pay for their college educations from bowling tournament earnings.
"We started because our friend got us in a league but we were winning tournaments at a young age and actually were able to pay for college from bowling," said Sean Lavery.
The Lavery twins participated in the event last year. Sean lost in the round of four and Anthony won the title.
