Good Samaritan shares story of saving driver from truck explosion

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Last Wednesday, after a front tire blew out on big rig on highway 302, a truck exploded, the fire was so intense that it was reported that asphalt on the streets melted.

We were told the driver, had no major injuries, this was because of the bravery of some good Samaritans who came to the rescue the driver.

"You know, when he landed it was already on fire you know we had to react fast we just did what we had to do to get him out," said Vicent Villafranco.

Villafranco said when they reached the cab of the truck the man was bleeding very badly.

"He had a gash on top of his head and he was unconscious he was pretty heavy we tried to wake him up, but he just wouldn't respond, and we opened the door and we had to get him out he was all tangled up," said Villafranco.

Villafranco, also says Just moments after they pulled the driver out the cab, his friend made the call to 911, and they waited for paramedics to arrive.

But the scary moments weren't over, as they waited, they heard a loud boom sound.

"We heard an explosion it wasn't a big one, it was an explosion we were already away from it so that was a good thing,"  Villafranco said.

Thankfully, the worst was over and thanks to these brave men, the explosion was just that, a scary moment.
