ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The Odessa College men's basketball team is headed to Hutchinson, Kansas for the 3rd year in a row. They are looking to make a run in the NCJAA Men's Division I National Tournament. This year the 28-4 Wranglers enter the tournament as the 7th seed and received a first round bye for the third year in a row. Odessa is coming off a tough loss from the regional final game, but is looking to bounce back in Kansas.
"It's behind us but we're definitely going to play with a chip on our shoulder because last game we didn't play good offensively or defensively," said Keandre Cook.
"That was one we really wanted but that wasn't the main goal of the season so we got four more games the way we look at it and we're going to try our hardest to reach this goal we set in the beginning of the year. We don't know who we're playing so we're going to work on effort and I believe the team with the most effort wins games," said Kelvin Jones.
"I think you got to look back and see what you did wrong and get better at things you did wrong going into this tournament. But luckily we've played good enough to get to where we're at. There's a few things we need to change but I like where we're at right now mentally and going into this. I like being around this team and I like I said they're ready to go to play which is a good thing and I'm ready to go," said Head Coach Tra Arnold.
"As a team we definitely want to win this and we all want to get rings. We know that will help everybody's future on the team. So, as a whole group we want to go win this championship so everyone can go somewhere great next year," said Jones.
The Wranglers will play next Tuesday against the winner of the Southern Idaho and Snead State matchup.
