ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The UTPB Falcons have had two extremely successful basketball seasons in a row. Last year they won the Lone Star Conference and this year they made the longest post-season run in school history ending just last night in the sweet sixteen with a loss to West Texas A&M. It was an emotional scene after the game for head coach Andy Newman and the nine seniors on the team, but there was also a lot of pride about what they've been able to accomplish.
"I'm just proud of 'em. I mean just watching guys turn their lives around like Dashon, James everybody. I guess we all came here a little broken and through hard work and discipline I have two college graduates sitting to my left and my right everybody in the country who follows basketball sees UTPB in the top 25 from start to finish this season," said Head Coach Andy Newman.
"We did a lot in these two years. It's just so hard knowing we're not gonna go to war with these guys, knowing I'm not gonna go to war with this coach anymore its heartbreaking man, but I wouldn't trade that decision for the world," said senior guard Daeshon Francis.
