2 arrested after pursuit leaves deputy injured

ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A stolen vehicle pursuit involving several agencies on Sunday morning left a deputy in the hospital with injuries.

According to the Ector County Sheriff's Office, the suspect driving a stolen car evaded DPS, OPD and the sheriff's deputies while reaching speeds over 100 mph.

During the chase,  the suspect ran multiple stops signs and crossed over into oncoming traffic, running cars off the road.

Deputy Cody Smith attempted to conduct a stop but the suspect sped away and struck two sheriff's office patrol units, causing him to suffer a broken hand.

The suspect was identified as Steven S. Saenz, 26, he and his passenger, Sueellen Montoya,  17, were both arrested and taken to MCH for minor injuries.

They are now facing multiple charges.
