JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A Jonesboro woman on parole for attacking a man twice with a knife faces stiffer charges for a similar crime.

On Thursday, officers responded to a reported fight in the 1400-block of South Caraway.

The victim told police 45-year-old Angela Denise Kitchens had assaulted her.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the woman said she tried to leave the room, but Kitchens would not let her.

She also claimed Kitchens “scratched her face and threatened to stab her to death with a knife if she tried to leave.” She described the knife as having marijuana leaves on it.

When the woman ran to the bathroom to get away, she said Kitchens tried to “beat the bathroom door down” as she called 911.

During an interview with Detective Josh Wiiest, Kitchens reportedly said she and the victim were in a relationship.

Kitchens claimed the woman was “very intoxicated” and that’s why she tried to keep her from leaving.

She said they were “tussling” and that she “might have scratched” the victim, but “nothing was intentional.”

Kitchens also told the detective there was a folding knife with a marijuana print in the home, but said neither party made any threats.

Thursday afternoon, Craighead County District Judge David Boling found probable cause to charge her with third-degree domestic battering/second offense and aggravated assault on a family or household member.

While considering her bond, Detective Wiiest told Boling that Kitchens was on parole for a similar crime.

In 2016, police arrested Kitchens twice within two weeks for assaulting a man with a knife. She later pleaded guilty to second-degree domestic battery and aggravated assault; she was sentenced to 48 months probation.

Boling set Kitchens’ bond at $15,000 and told her to appear in circuit court on April 27.
