Hobbs police arrest suspect in shooting at Chili’s restaurant over the weekend

HOBBS, NM (KWES) - One man listed in stable condition, another arrested following shooting at Chili's restaurant in Hobbs over the weekend.

On Saturday evening, we're told the Hobbs Police Department responded to the Chili's Restaurant, located at 1810 W. Joe Harvey Boulevard, in reference to a large fight with shots fired in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, we're told police found a male subject had suffered a gunshot wound.

According to investigators, they were able to identify several individuals involved in the fight, which lead them to identity the suspect who shot the male subject.

We're told the suspect Steven Barnes, 42, of Hobbs was identified. We're told detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Barnes for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Authorities said Barnes turned himself in Monday and is currently being held at the Lea County Detention Center on a no bond warrant.

According to Hobbs police, the victim of the shooting was identified as Ray Molinar,22, of Odessa.

We're told Molinar was taken to Lea Regional Medical Center by private vehicle prior to officer's arrival.

Police said Molinar was later air lifted to a Lubbock area hospital. As of now, we're told Molinar is listed in stable condition at University Medical Center.
