LOVING, NM (KWES) - Early Wednesday morning several people near Loving, New Mexico, were asked to leave their homes.
The Curent-Argus reports it was after what authorities believe was a pipeline explosion at around 1:30 a.m.
Everyone within a two-mile radius of Highway 285 and New Mexico state road 31 were asked to evacuate.
The Eddy County Emergency manager told the Current-Argus the reason for the initial call is unknown, but the explosion could be related to nearby oil and gas activities.
The highway and state road 31 are closed at this time, according to Eddy County officials.
