MIDLAND-ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One man has been arrested following a chase that spanned both Midland and Ector Counties.

Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter tells us they tried to stop Zachery Pineda for speeding, when Pineda took off.

The high speed chase started near CR 1313 and CR 125, near the border of Midland and Ector Counties. Painter said the chase then went into Ector County and the city of Odessa to Loop 338, before coming back east onto Highway 191 and onto Loop 250 in Midland.

Spike strips were laid out by Midland officers, but Painter says Pineda avoided them, swiping one vehicle and causing another to wreck.

The chase eventually ended near FM 1788 and I-20 without further incident and Pineda was arrested.
