ODESSA, TX (KWES) - A man has been arrested in connection with an arson investigation.
Ryan Alexander Becerra, 21, is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police say they were called out to a burglary in progress just before 5 a.m. on Friday. The residence caught fire.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 53-year-old male and 45-year-old female, who advised they had been asleep inside of their residence with their 16-year-old daughter and 6-month-old son.
The complainant advised that he woke up to a loud banging on his front door and that someone was attempting to make entry into the residence. The complainant advised that he then looked outside and observed his neighbor, identified as Becerra, standing in the front yard. Becerra then threw something through a bedroom window, causing the house to catch on fire. Becerra fled the scene before police arrived. Officers located an unused Molotov cocktail in the front yard and another one in the bedroom. There were no reports of any injuries.
Later in the morning, an OPD officer observed a white 2011 Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound on Grant with an expired registration. A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Becerra.
