Woman accused of hindering apprehension, assaulting Odessa police officer

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One woman is behind bars on charges following an incident Wednesday night in Odessa.

Kasey Tavarez, 19, is accused of assault on a public servant and hindering apprehension.

Odessa police were called out to the 4300 block of N. Dixie Blvd. in reference to a fight in progress.

When officers arrived, they spotted a man fighting with Tavarez.

According to the report, as police were attempting to detain the man, Tavarez shoved an officer in the chest with both of her hands allowing the man to gain a tactical advantage to further resist and fight the officer.

Police said when a second officer arrived, the man fled the scene westbound on foot.

Tavarez was later taken into custody and was taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

Police said they have identified the male suspect and have already obtained warrants for him.
