Notes of love, support plastered on new home of injured officer Jake Churchwell

They say home is where the heart is. In Jake Churchwell's new home, there are many hearts. Hearts with messages of support and love on them.

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - They say home is where the heart is.

"It's amazing," said Jake Churchwell.

In Churchwell's new home, there are many hearts. Hearts with messages of support and love on them.

"It's nice to be able to see it in writing. Me personally, I've experienced so much support from the community," said Churchwell.

The notes written by students at General Franks Elementary and members of the Midland Police Department had the former Marine and Midland police officer counting down the days to move in.

"My daughter, she hasn't lived in anything but a hotel her entire life. It's going to be great," said Churchwell.

The mortgage-free home was made possible by Permian Homes and Operation Finally Home.

"I can't put into words how thankful I am," said Churchwell.

The home and its messages are continuing to lift the spirit of the Churchwell's. It's even got Jake thinking about interior decorating when it's finished.

"Oh yeah, I've already picked out where my man cave is going to be," said Churchwell.

Even though the frames will be covered up, each message of support will continue to be the foundation of the Churchwell's new home.
