Convicted sex offenders arrested while illegal in U.S.

WEST TEXAS (KWES) - U.S. border patrol arrested several convicted sex offenders while attempting to enter the country illegally.

Agents assigned to the Marfa and Presidio stations made three separate arrests of men who had been previously removed from the U.S.

On Oct. 17, Marfa agents working east of town arrested five undocumented immigrants, one of them, a 65-year-old man, was convicted in 1989 for a sexual offense of a child.

He was sentenced to 10 years in jail in Midland before being deported.

Meanwhile, that same day in Presidio, agents arrested a 59-year-old man who had been convicted in 1984 on criminal sexual contact of a minor in Santa Fe.

On Oct. 21, Marfa agents made a third arrest, that man had been convicted in 2013 on charges of kidnapping and enticement of a minor for indecent purposes in Muleshoe.
