(KWES) -

A facelift to a Midland Park that's stood for generations is coming.

City officials talked about plans to revamp the park.

It was discussed in three phases.

The first phase would see renovations to the concrete, parking lot and bathrooms.

Phase two would see new playground equipment put in.

The hope for phase three would see the addition of a splash pad.

The city took ideas from the community in 2015 and wants the new park brings back old memories.

"So many people have heartfelt ideas about this iconic park. They grew up in midland now they want their kids to enjoy Dennis the Menace just like they did. Our hope is that we bring something to the citizens of midland that they are so excited about that they want to bring their grandchildren back to," said Laurie Williams, Assistant Director of Community Services with the City of Midland.

the funds for the renovations came from city council.

The park is expected to be finished with renovations in a year.
