Kindergartner recovering from broken femur after being hit by vehicle in Midland

UPDATE: A kindergartner is recovering from a broken femur after a vehicle ran over the child on Tuesday afternoon. 

Lacy Sperry with the Midland Independent School District tells us the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the parking lot at Milam Elementary School. 

She said a PTA meeting was going on at the school and as the meeting was wrapping up, a driver backed up over a kindergartner. 

Sperry said that EMS, Midland Police and Midland I.S.D. police rushed to the scene to help the child. 

The kindergartner was taken to the emergency room at Midland Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock. 

We're told the child is stable at this time. 

Sperry wants to remind drivers to please be careful in and around school zones before, during and after school. 


One person has been taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle.

Details are limited at this time but we're told the accident happened near Milam Elementary School in Midland around 4:30 p.m.

No word yet on the exact injuries the victim suffered.
