ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One woman is behind bars on several charges following an incident late Monday night in Odessa.

Ashley Norris, 18, is charged with tampering with physical evidence, evading arrest or detention and possession of marijuana.

Police said while officers were taking a break at 7-Eleven in the 2700 block of N. Dixie Blvd., they could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from a parked green 2010 Hyundai Elantra.

When officers told Norris, who was the driver of the vehicle, to stop, she left the parking lot and ran from officers westbound in the vehicle.

We're told the vehicle was later found in the area of Chestnut Ave. and Bellaire Dr.

Police said that's when Norris began to destroy a bag of marijuana.

Norris was later arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
