MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - Bella is a 10-year-old girl who's fought for her life since she was born. A week ago a doctor told her family Bella has just 3 weeks to live. With the help of a Fort Worth police officer Bella and her family packed their bags Friday morning to make their way to California to fulfill Bella's final wish.

Step by step Bella continues to fight for her life, she's been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, hydrocephalus with two shunts, brain malformation, osteoporosis, chronic intestinal pseudo obstruction and neurogenic bowels.

Bella's grandparents, Ted and Janie Velarde, said Bella always has a way to light up a room.

"She loves everybody, she's got that big heart, she's little but she loves everyone," said Janie.

Over the years Bella has undergone 15 surgeries, the last one was over the summer. A week ago a doctor told Bella she only has three weeks left and it was time for her to make her final wish

"She said Disneyland in California," said Janie. "They've never been there and this is it."

With the help of Fort Worth Police Officer Damon Cole, Bella is taking a step closer to her final wish.

"It's taking over all of us. It's taking over my daughter, she's very strong but it's caught up to us," said Janie. "You can be strong for so long. I just want y'all to know that Bella is the world to us and we'd do it again if we had to."

Bella and her family are heading to California where Bella will get to visit her favorite character, Mickey Mouse at Disneyland and feel the sand between her toes as she admires Newport Beach.

"I love her, I wouldn't trade her for the world," said Janie. "Bella is awesome, Bella is a true fighter," said Ted.

Bella was too tired to talk to us on camera but she let us listen to her favorite artist, George Strait, with her. She listens to him before and after every surgery.

After visiting California, still wearing her Super girl cape, Bella will take step by step on to her next journey.

if you would like to help Bella's family they're having a bake sale and car wash fundraiser Saturday October 7 at Super Mercado in Midland. It starts at 9 a.m. and you have until 4 p.m. to make it out there.
